Osteebad Karlshagen - This is how the beach looks
Karlshagen, located in the northeast of Usedom Island, offers a particularly wide, fine sandy beach up to 80 m wide. Thanks to the shallow shoreline, the water warms quickly and provides safe swimming for families, supervised by lifeguards along 1,200 m. There are dedicated sections for nudists, dogs, and sports, with barrier-free access and seven permanent volleyball courts – unique on Usedom. The Baltic Sea water quality is excellent, marked by the “Blue Flag” award. The climate boasts over 1,900 hours of sunshine annually – one of the highest in Germany. The central beach plaza, featuring the “Beach Mermaid” sculpture, hosts events, live shows, and a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere. Safety is a top priority with lost-child wristbands, clear swimming zones, and no dangerous sea creatures. Amber – the “gold of the Baltic Sea” – can be found on guided beach walks. Caution is advised due to possible confusion with phosphorus remnants from WWII.
