The vacation is booked, the bags are packed after weeks of planning and after a (hopefully) traffic jam-free drive you arrive in the beach paradise. After the arrival, it's first to the room; short inspection of the accommodation. But then it's off to the beach! After all, that's why you're there. And because you want to really relax on vacation, you need a beach chair. But how do you book it?
Possibility one: You speak directly with the beach chair rental company.
For this you have to keep two things in mind: Where is your vacation home or hotel located and on which part of the beach are there really beach chairs? You can easily find out the former by taking a walk to the beach or using the map app on your phone. Once you're on the beach, you can look left and right to see where there are beach chairs and where the beach chair rental cottage is. This is the only place where you can usually meet the beach chair rental company and reserve a beach chair in advance. Alternatively, you can also get an overview of all beach accesses with a beach scanner.
Once you have found the beach chair hirer, there are two facts you need to know: How long do you want to book? And: Do you want a 2-person beach chair (i.e. for two people) or a 3-person beach chair (i.e. for three people)? There is also an intermediate size for 2.5 people (so for example for 2 adults, 1 child) and meanwhile also cool extras, like the turntable - but basically the question is: "How much comfort do you need on the beach?".
In most cases, payment is cash only. And if you haven't already purchased a spa card from your vacation provider, you'll now have to purchase it from the beach chair rental company for the duration of your stay. Here you can read again why you need the spa card.
Possibility two: rent a beach chair online
Thanks to the Internet, it is now possible to reserve a beach chair completely digitally on various platforms.
There are currently three beach chair rental platforms:
With over 50 cities and over 400 beach sections, Strandscanner is the largest beach chair platform and offers the widest range. Just like in the movies, you can choose your desired spot here. You can then reserve the beach chair online and pay on the spot or directly book the beach chair online and pay with Paypal.
2) Beachbuddy.app
The oldest of the three platforms is Beachbuddy. Since 2019, the company has focused on marketing digital locks. These can be opened with Bluetooth and so you are independent of the opening hours of the beach chair rental. Beachbuddy lists a total of 13 cities - mainly in Lower Saxony.
3) Strandbutler.de
The investor-controlled company now has an active contract with 50 rental companies. You can visually pick your location on a map and then pay digitally.
Personal tip from Caty:
On the day of arrival during peak season, it's usually too late to reserve a beach chair on site because everything is already occupied and booked out. As a mother of three children, I can only recommend you to reserve the beach chair online in advance to really make the beach day a relaxing experience.
